Much like he did with the final Nine Inch Nails release (2008’s “The Slip”)
Trent Reznor decided to give away this new release for free on the Interweb.

Out of the kindness of his heart i’m sure but mostly, to drum up some word
of mouth on this new project with NIN collaborator Atticus Ros and his wife
and lead vocalist Mariqueen Maandig.

This is a trend that many musicians are following, and a trend that music students earning an online degree should take note of for their future careers.

For the price of your email address, you can get your hands on this sweet 6-song EP:

And if your ears just can’t stand the 320 kbps ratio those free mp3s provides,
you can get an HD upgrade for 2 measly dollars which will give you FLAC, Apple Lossless and 24-bit, 44.1 kHz WAV.

The music video for “The Space In Between” will be included aswell
or you can just watch it here.

The physical version of the EP will be out July 6th and for you vinyl junkies, release date TBD.

All this will be leading to their full-length debut which should be
out early next year.

Tanya Morgan – “Bang & Boogie”

MC’s Von Pea, Donwill and Ilyas taking us back to their younger days, recollecting
on their sweet encounters with da ladiez. Fat booty girlz featured within.

Directed by Berman Fenelus.

Tanya Morgan still pimpin’ out their great, underrated 2009 album “Brooklynati”
with this great single, while all 3 members have released or are working on
solo projects.

Donwill just released his first solo album “Don Cusack in High Fidelity” last March.

Smalltown Romeo Feat. Shad K – “Boom Ha”

A summer jam if ever there was one, great animation style using gig poster art as
their template.

Directed by Matt Luckhurst.

Smalltown Romeo are a Canadian collective of DJ’s and remixers. Think N.A.S.A.
or Mark Ronson.

Myspace them to hear some of those remixes.

I would be remissed if I did not mention that Shad, the best MC (IMHO) us Canucks
have spewed forth into the world, just released his 3rd LP “TSOL” this week all
over this great nation of ours.

He will be in Montreal for the International Jazz Music Festival June 25th
@ the Bell Stage.

Aloe Blacc – “I Need A Dollar”

A split screen video: on one side, Aloe walking around Harlem and on
the other, a static B/W shot of him performing his sweet slice of
throwback Soul that’s sure to become a monster Summer jam.

Directed by Kahlil Joseph.

This song was first heard in the opening credits of the HBO show “How To Make
It In America”
. Those credits were actually talked about more than the show
itself. — > Opening credits on YT.

His new album “Good Things” on Stones Throw Records should be out later this year.

Yesterday, UK radio DJ Zane Lowe spinned the first single “The Suburbs”
and it’s B-side “Month Of May” on his show and  they quickly made the rounds
all over the Interweb.

The single will be out June 1st.

Today, we find out from one “Arkady Fireovitch” that the album will in
fact be titled “The Suburbs” and shall be out August 2nd in the UK and
3rd in the US of A on Merge and Canada on Sonovox Label which happens to be
AF’s own label.

PRE-ORDER has commenced for the new LP — > Click Me

And if you do so, you’ll be able to download both songs for gratis.

Many formats offered be it CD, Vinyl, 320 kbps MP3, FLAC or Apple Lossless
basically they’ve thought of everyone tastes in any format you could
ever possibly want.

The AF crew hitting up a few music festivals this Summer including our own
slice of the Summer festival pie Osheaga Music Festival on July 31st.

A super secret show and or a week’s worth of shows right before the album
comes out? Not outside the realm of possibility when it concerns AF and us Montréalais.

So keep them peepers open y’all.

The Butler Bros. (Win & Will) were on NPR today to discuss the new album.

How To Destroy Angels – “The Space In Between”

Blood be spilled and corpses be burnin’ in a Lynchian hotel room.

Directed by Rupert Sanders.

This is the first single off Trent Reznor‘s first post-Nine Inch Nails
project with his misses Mariqueen Maandig (ex-West Indian Girl) and NIN
collaborator Atticus Ross from their forthcoming self-titled EP out
this Summer with their debut album to follow in early 2011.

Unkle – “Follow Me Down” (NSFW)

Featuring Supermodel Liberty Ross (and her erect nipples that could
serve as a keychain holder) artfully writhing about in an abandoned
warehouse.

The video is an extension of the album’s artwork. Sleepy Sun
are the guest vocalists on this track.

Directed by Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton Jones.

Unkle‘s 4th (and best album since their 1998 debut “Psyence Fiction”)
“Where Did The Night Fall” is out now.

Editors – “Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool”

Gorgeous and painstakingly crafted video inspired by early 20th century
animations. Think Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse “Steamboat Willy” but eviler.

Directed by The Lennox Brothers.

This single is off their new album “In This Light And On This Evening” out now.
