Obviously, Saturday is the pants creaming worthy day of the festival.
I surely hope they will be smart enough to schedule this so that
there’s no conflict whatsoever in the bands I wanna see. It’s a tall
order.
More will be added and still waiting on the “In The City” schedule to be revealed.
Tickets still can be purchased here.

What kind of Power Pop aficionado can I claim to be when I forget to
write about one of the genres biggest band and their new release?
A lousy one that’s who.
Last month, it was announced that my favorite Glaswegians were
releasing their 9th studio album titled “Shadows” June 8th on
Merge Records. Album — > pre-order.
At the core of the group, partners in crime (the 3 Amigos if you will)
Norman Blake, Gerard Love and Raymond McGinley are back at it after
their last release 2005’s “Man-Made”.
I discovered The Fannies through their 5th and IMHO their best album
1995’s “Grand Prix” where this gem of a song appeared:
Teenage Fanclub – “Sparky’s Dream”
3 Minutes and 17 seconds.
Everything i love about them was encapsulated in that short spurt of
musical greatness. Jangly guitars, sweet harmonies and killer hooks.
Can’t say the follow up albums to “Grand Prix” have had quite the same
impact on me but they’ve always churned out quality music over quantity
and their songwriting skills have stayed pretty much intact throughout.
“Shadows” first single “Baby Lee” is being offered as a free download:
( MP3 ) Teenage Fanclub – “Baby Lee”
It will be available as a 7″ vinyl and download on May 24th. The vinyl’s
flipside will have a new Gerard Love song titled “Secret Heart”.
A tour of North America is in the works for September and should be
announced shortly.
The one and only time I had the pleasure of seeing them live was back
in 1997 when they opened for Radiohead on their OK Computer tour.
Suffice it to say that this show is in my all-time top 5.
I am praying to the mighty Power Pop gods that Montreal will
be on their schedule this time around.

M.I.A. – “Born Free” ( NSFW )
Ginger kids being rounded up by a jacked up U.S. SWAT team driven to an
undisclosed desert camp to be severely dealt with. It’s the feel good
(and Cartman approved) video of spring 2010. Directed by Romain Gavras.
This Digital Hardcore influenced single may or may not appear on M.I.A.‘s
third album titled /\/\/\Y/\ (Maya) set to be released July 13th.
LCD Soundsystem – “Drunk Girls”
Mayhem and anarchy reigns in this video where the LCD crew are being manhandled
and F’ed with by dudes wearing Panda costumes. Directed by Spike Jonze & James Murphy.
Their third album “This Is Happening” comes out May 18th.
They shall be in Montreal May 24th @ the Metropolis. — > Tickets
The Chemical Brothers – “Swoon”
Colorful, trippy silhouettes just walking around, doin’ their thang.
Directed by Adam Smith & Marcus Lyall.
This first single is off their new album “Further” dropping on tha 14th of June.

Videos: My Brightest Diamond @ Il Motore (05. 03. 2010)
Posted on | May 4, 2010 | No Comments
Always a treat to catch My Brightest Diamond (aka Shara Worden) when she
comes to town.
Last time I saw her was back in December 2008 @ Le Poisson Rouge in NYC
with a full band backing her up.
This time around, she came here all by her lonesome and very preggers.
We got treated to songs from both albums (2006’s “Bring Me The Workhorse”
and 2008’s “A Thousand Shark’s Teeth”) but also a few new songs she’s
been working on.
One was a really sweet song about her Grandfather’s courtship of his
future wife, and one was the song I captured on video titled
“Everything Is In Line”.
It’s peppy, catchy as hell melody has not left my noggin since last night.
