Autolux “Transit Transit” Out Today
Posted on | August 3, 2010 | No Comments

At long last!
After delays upon delays upon delays, this sucker is finally in
stores.
To be honest, I didn’t think I would still be alive to witness
this momentous event but here it is.
Now, Let’s hope the third album gets a 2012 release and not 2016.
You can stream the whole album on their Myspace page.
Buy the digital version of the album for 5.99$ on Amazon.
The single “Supertoys” is out now in the UK with the non-album track
(i.e. the b-side) titled “Curtains” which you can sample here.
Come witness my college radio debut as my bud Omar Goodness and I will
yack about the album in length on a very special episode of “Hooked On
Sonics”, his weekly radio show on CJLO Thursday nights @ 6pm ET.
You can live stream it here.
The whole record will be played in it’s entirety and also rare tracks
will be featured, songs that were performed live but never recorded in
studio and cool covers and collaborations aswell.
Do not miss their Montreal show @ La Sala Rossa August 25th.
Tickets can be purchased here.

New Tron: Legacy Trailer
Posted on | July 22, 2010 | No Comments

Was unveiled today at Comic-Con and it is made of even more pure awesome-ness
than the first trailer we got back in March.
In this one, you get to see Jeff Bridges working with his younger
self circa 1982. Some crazy Hollywood wizardry went into it to achieve
this (think Benjamin Button) which you can learn how they did it here.
December 17, 2010 … You’ll know where I’ll be.

2010 Mercury Prize Nominations Announced
Posted on | July 20, 2010 | No Comments

For the last 18 years, The Mercury Prize is awarded each year to what
is considered to be the best album released in the United Kingdom.
Previous winners includes:
Primal Scream, Suede, Portishead, Pulp, PJ Harvey, Franz Ferdinand,
Artic Monkeys, Klaxons, Elbow and Speech Debelle at last year’s ceremony.
Some of those Mercury winners could be considred questionable at best (M People?
Talvin Singh?) but i’d say they get those nominations right about 75% of the time.
This year’s shortlist:
Biffy Clyro – Only Revolutions
Corinne Bailey Rae – The Sea
Dizzee Rascal – Tongue N’ Cheek

Kit Downes Trio – Golden
Foals – Total Life Forever
I Am Kloot – Sky At Night

Laura Marling – I Speak Because I Can
Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More
Paul Weller – Wake Up The Nation
Villagers – Becoming A Jackal
Wild Beasts – Two Dancers
The XX – XX
Decent enough list.
But I gotta ask … no We Were Promised Jetpacks? Doves? Sky Larkin?
Manic Street Preachers? Four Tet?
All released outstanding albums (IMHO) last year.
Every year, the list always has these “who the hell are they?” picks like
Kit Downes Trio? or Villagers? but that’s what an award like this is for,
making new discoveries.
From my own personal tastes I would have Biffy Clyro, Mumford & Sons and
The XX in my top 3 and probably The XX for the win.
Who do you think will win? Who’s missing on the list?
The winner shall be announced on September 7th.
