Reminder: Teenage Fanclub @ Cabaret JPR / September 24th

Posted on | September 16, 2010 | No Comments

I would wager this to be the Power Pop (or melodious rock) event of the year
in the 514 area code, The Fannies back in Montreal after a 13 years absence
to promote their 9th studio album “Shadows”. Still going strong after 20 years,
which all started with their critically hailed debut 1991’s “Bandwagonesque”.

Opening for them will be Merge Records labelmates The Radar Bros.

FYI: The show was moved from Le National to the more intimate (and one of my
favorite venues in town) Cabaret Music Hall.

Still some tickets left which can be purchased here.

To prep you or rather to psych you up for next week’s show, here’s
links to a few interviews the TF crew did since “Shadows” came out:

Guardian : “Growing Old peacefully”
Magnet Magazine : “Q&A With Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake”
Paste Magazine (RIP) : “Catching Up With … Teenage Fanclub”
Pop Matters : “Your Best Song Is The Last One”: 20 Years Later With TF”
Spinner : Teenage Fanclub Explain Their ‘Fragmented’ Songwriting Process”

And thanks to the magical gnomes running YouTube, relive in glorious music video form their past musical accomplishments.

Teenage Fanclub – “What You Do To Me”

Teenage Fanclub – “The Concept”

Teenage Fanclub – “Star Sign”

Teenage Fanclub – “Hang On”

Teenage Fanclub – “Ain’t That Enough”

“The Walking Dead” Trailer

Posted on | September 1, 2010 | No Comments

The Zombie apocalypse is nigh.

Halloween night.

AMC.

It’s already my favorite show of this new TV season.

6 episode series (how very UK TV of them) from writer-director
Frank Darabont and based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman
& Tony Moore.

Reminiscent of another Zombie apocalypse series “Dead Set”,
who’s clever premise was set in the Big Brother house,
shown on UK’s Channel 4 back in 2008.

Very much worth checking out if you’re jonesing for some Zombie
carnage.  — > trailer.
