New Tron: Legacy Trailer Feat. Daft Punk Music
Posted on | October 26, 2010 | No Comments
It’s pretty well known by now that Daft Punk did their first film scoring work for
Tron: Legacy coming out in a theater near you December 17th.
The track “Derrezed” is the first composition heard in it’s entirety and is used to score this new kickass trailer.
I will be lucky enough to attend an event this Thursday at my local IMAX theater
where 20 minutes of the movie will be shown.
Yes.
I am that much of a dork.
But still, i’ve been dying to see this thing since the first images came out
in 2008 so you will pardon me if I geek the F out has I watch said footage
with my fellow Tron nerds in 2 days.
In the meantime, enjoy this new trailer and try to spot the quick or you’ll
miss them cameo of the french electro duo DJ’ing an event in zee Tron world.
Soundtrack will be released on December 7th.

CMJ Music Marathon 2010 ( The Full Schedule )

One of my biggest pleasure when Fall comes a knockin’ is not the slow
descent into cold weather or when everything seems to be turning into the
color grey when all the leaves dies out, it’s the return of the CMJ
Music Marathon, the last BIG music festival of the year where college
music is at the forefront.
Celebrating it’s 30th year, the week long shinding goes down from October 19th
to the 25th, 1200+ artists from over 30 countries in more than 75 venues
all over the Big Apple.
The full schedule went live yesterday: http://cmj.thesocialcollective.com
You can peruse it by events, panels and showcases.
You can also create your own own personalized schedule by logging in with
your Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, AOL or Windows Live account.
Also check out Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum and Oh My Rockness for listings
of all the free day shows that will go on during the week.
Big names this year includes:
Phoenix, UNKLE, Greg Dulli, Deakin, Dean & Britta, Nada Surf.
Returning from last year:
Surfer Blood, School of Seven Bells, Beach Fossils, Grooms, Sky Larkin.
My personal picks, the ones I will try my damndest to catch in full:
+/-
Art Of Fresh
Asobi Seksu
Autodrone
Bad Books (Feat. Kevin Devine And Manchester Orchestra)
Black Sheep
Blood Red Shoes
Body Language
Caveman
Cults
Dead Leaf Echo
Eisley
Emilie Simon
Ghostface Killah
GZA
The Hush Now
Kids of 88
One Be Lo
Pete Rock
Pharoahe Monch
Ringo Deathstarr
Tanya Morgan
White Belt Yellow Tag
Wild Nothing
Lot’s of old school/new school hip hop acts to catch this year
which really what better place than it’s birth to catch it all.
Emilie Simon which has been called the french Bjork is worth
checking out and the rock twosome from England Blood Red Shoes
are on top of my list.
You can sample 500+ bands/artists through the Grooveshark website.
A nice set up and easy way to stream mp3s from all these acts. Altough
a torrent of all those files would’ve been nice aswell. Maybe next
year.
There’s also the film festival going on at the same time.
This year’s big movie premiere is for “Love & Other Drugs”,
the love story directed by Edward Zwick and starring
Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway.
And on the music documentary front, you have one about singer
Imogen Heap and the process she went through to create her
last album “Ellipse”, there’s also “Gainsbourg & His Girls”
which is about you guessed it, all the ladies in his life.
Also, a doc titled “Firewall of Sound” about the digital age
of music.
Something I learned from my first CMJ experience last year is
to come very prepared.
Try to find that one show you REALLY wanna see at night
and stick to it. You’ll get to see the one you came for
as the headliner but also discover the opening acts.
Usually get a few surprises that way.
Hopping from venues to venues is damn near impossible
if they are not next to each other so really that
one big show is your best bet.
The one site you can’t live without while navigating the
trecherous NYC subway system. I’d be utterly lost without
it.
A CMJ Festival survival tip from me to you.
You still have time to register for an all-around pass
or any other kind of passes of your choosing which you can
do so right here.
