2010 Osheaga Music Festival ( Lineup Announced )

Posted on March 24, 2010 |

Now that I’m back from SXSW, It’s time to think about other music
festivals I get to look forward in the coming Summer season.

First up, the 5th edition of our own local little slice of the Summer
music festival pie, I speak of course of Osheaga, which is held
each and every year @ Parc Jean-Drapeau on île Sainte-Hélène.

The island portion of the festival goes down Saturday, July 31st /
Sunday, August 1st
.

Osheaga In the The City, which started last year in clubs all
over the city, set up as a pre-party to the big 2 day shindig
will go down this year July 28-31.

Each year the festival’s been in operation, one of the biggest
request band wise to the Osheaga organizers was to bring local
indie rock heroes, the mighty Arcade Fire to the island. Well,
seems they’ve finally caved in has they will be the headliners for
Day numero 1.

They also needed one giant, popular/commercial band to bring
asses trough the gates (that was Coldplay’s job last year)
and this year we have Weezer.

If they could stick mostly setlist wise to the Blue Album and
Pinkerton that would be awesome (for me and to a shitload
of thirtysomethings who were in high school when those albums
actually came out) but sadly, those days are long gone.

The John Spencer Blues Explosion (!!!) need I say more?

And of course, we get the Pavement reunion tour to play in our city.
It was touch and go there for awhile wondering if a date would
be scheduled for us Montrealers and it finally took Osheaga
to make it happen.

Thanks O.
