Back in April 2009, I spoke fondly of this new Shoegaze band out of England,
led by Dean Garcia, founding member of 90’s Electro/Shoegaze band Curve with
singer/songwriter Toni Halliday.

His new leading lady as it were happens to be his daughter Rose Berlin,
who’s done a bang up job so far. Can’t forget lead guitarist Joey Levenson
who adds a lovely texture to the whole proceedings.

For a limited time, on their Bandcamp page, you can sample their
debut album “3-D” and the 3 EPs they’ve released since for gratis.

The last few years has seen a revival of the Shoegaze/Dream Pop/Space Rock
scene and SPC ECO (pronounced “Space Echo”) is in my opinion at the forefront.

A Tribe Called Quest Doc “Beats, Rhymes & Life” Trailer Released

Posted on | June 3, 2011 | No Comments

Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest

I would say with much certitude that A Tribe Called Quest were the most influential,
groundbreaking Hip Hop group the game has ever seen and it seems actor
Michael Rappaport agrees wit that statement aswell.

For his directorial debut, he followed Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White on a cross country tour of the US of A back in 2008, giving the fans a a behind-the-scenes look of their day to day lives and how tenuous their relationships have become over the years especially between Phife and Q-Tip.

The list of talking heads in this production is friggin’ ridiculous.

You’ll hear stories from most of the Native Tongues collective, people like Monie Love, The Jungle Brothers, Busta Rhymes and De La Soul.

DJ Red Alert, Beastie Boys, Kanye West, Pharrell, Mos Def, Santigold, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Common, Ghostface Killah and Ludacris also shows up and talk about how awesome they be and how they influenced their music.

I so VERY MUCH wanna see this right now but we must wait until July 8th when New York and Los Angeles will get first crack at it and then it shall spread nationwide.

Here’s a list of release dates to find out when it will open in a city near you.

To give you a taste, here’s the just released trailer:
