My Year-End Lists Of 2016

Any other year, Autolux’s “Pussy’s Dead” would have been my undisputed,
#1 album. But then, the unthinkable happened. A Tribe Called
Quest, which is fair to say, my favorite hip hop group of all
times and spaces, released their sixth studio album, their first in
18 years and their last with the late, great “Five Foot Assassin” Phife
Dawg who passed away earlier this year.

It had no right to be this good but it was. Q-Tip is a goddamn genius.

So yeah, Autolux and A Tribe Called Quest shares the #1 spot.

Radiohead were a given.

Modern Baseball was a nice discovery. Emo-ish, indie rock band from
Philly that reminds me so much of Canada’s own The Weakerthans.

The Lees of Memory. If Superdrag’s John Davis releases any kind
of music in a calendar year, it will be on my list. It’s just
the law.

The rest of those picks, Tbh, could switch places at any time. I feel
at this point in my life and all the music i’ve listened to,
ranking it just seems a futile exercise. That is my true top 5 but
the rest of those 15 albums will be fighting their level of importance
and goodness in my mind for the rest of my existence.
