SXSW 2011: Montreal Does SXSW

Posted on March 3, 2011 |

With all the SXSW 2011 day parties i’ve been sharing with y’all, I would be
remiss if I did not mention my hometown’s own little shindings happening
on 6th street 2 weeks from now.

Our own yearly indie music festival Pop Montreal, which will celebrate
it’s 10th year of existence next September, in collab with local show
promoters Blue Skies Turn Black and money from the Quebec
government
to bring these bands to you fellow SWXW attendees.

You have Hollerado, master of ceremony of their own Nacho House.

You have fellow Quebecois Malajube, who hit it big a few years back with
their 2006 album “Trompe-l’oeil”, Buzz band du jour Braids, one of my
favorites Suuns, bringing their Shoegazian sound to the Austin masses.

Karkwa, winner of the 2010 Polaris Prize with their most excellent
album “Les Chemins De Verre”. Not actually part of the Pop Montreal
festivities but worth mentioning none the less.

Little Scream, Valleys, Grimes … the list goes on.

Here’s the lowdown on all 3 parties dedicated to our sweet music scene.
