Pop Montreal 2010: Day 2 Picks

Posted on September 30, 2010 |

Don’t let this rainy day deter you from a great night of shows.

Keeping it local, here’s 3 bands that should razzle and perhaps dazzle
you aswell.

Karkwa @ Metropolis / 8:30pm [ myspace ]

Come hear why most local music critics have cited “Les Chemins
De verre”
as this year’s best album La Belle Province unleashed
unto the world and why the were the recent recipient of the
2010 Polaris Prize, the first francophone band to receive said
honor.

Blue Hawaii @ Rialto / 10:00pm [ myspace ]

Local boy-girl duo who’s electro synth pop, will put a smile on your face and
warm the cockles of your heart with their Summer-y ditties.

Their debut “Blooming Summer” is out on cassette (yup, they still
make those) on Arbutus Records.

The Dears @ Mission Santa Cruz / 10:30pm [ ms ]

2nd night of a 3 night residency @ the Portuguese Santa Cruz Church, previewing their 5th studio album by performing it in it’s entirety.

Proceeds from every merch sale at these residency shows
will be donated to Montreal City Mission and War Child.

This yet-to-be-titled LP will be out February 2011
on Dangerbird Records.
