Us Montrealers are lucky to have great show promoters in Blue Skies Turn Black, Evenko and Greenland.

Something that was seriously lacking in the rest of the Quebecois province, especially on the indie music front and that’s when Scene 1245 came into the picture.

Located in the Laval suburbs, it was the brain child of Julien Aidelbaum who proposed to the folks running the André Mathieu venue, that they used said venue and la Maison Des Arts to bring to the Lavallois people cultural events in their neck of the woods.

Artists/bands like Andrew W.K., IAM, Los Campesinos!, Matt & Kim and Phantogram who made a point to schedule a stop there and even sometimes skipping Montreal all together.

Their Fall schedule is chock-full of goodness none more so then with my favorite Canuck band of the moment, Timber Timbre who, coming off a Polaris Prize nomination for their fantabulous album “Creep On Creepin’ On”, will do a small tour of the province through them starting this Wednesday:

10.05 - Joliette, QC - Salle Rolland-Brunelle
10.06 - Quebec, QC - Theatre Petit Champlain
10.07 - Terrebonne, QC - Moulin Neuf
10.08 - Sherbrooke, QC - Theatre Granada
10.09 - Victoriaville, QC - Cinéma Laurier
10.10 - Laval, QC - Maison Des Arts De Laval

The Laval show is scheduled 2 whole months before they play Montreal again December 3rd @ St. Jean Baptiste Church in the Plateau so I would definitely get on that.

Little Scream, Jean Leloup And The Last Assassins and Handsome Furs are also listed to perform in Laval before the end of the year.

Both venues are at walking distance (5 minutes away) from the Montmorency Métro Station.
