My Year-End Lists Of 2009

Posted on December 27, 2009 |

One of the best year we’ve had music wise in a long time.
Lot’s of new bands that blew my mindhole, veterans that
came back on the scene and did the same. A few disappointments
(I’m looking at you Mute Math and Dredg) and outright failures
(Chris Cornell … seriously dude?) some kick ass hip hop
(Tanya Morgan, Blakroc, Dälek) I loved it all.

For those who might care, I’ve also included my top 10 albums

Albums Of The ’00s:

Without a doubt, my favorite album of the Aughts is
Autolux’s Future Perfect. It’s the one I’ve listened
to the most, the one i’ve pimped out to all my friends
and strangers alike. It’s out of this world hypnotic sound,
it’s dark, fuzzy, distorted guitars drenched in reverb …
it blows my mind everytime I hear it. The musical chemistry
between singer /bassist Eugene Goreshter, guitarist Greg
Edwards
and Carla Azar, the best gosh darn drummer in the
business today is undeniable. Will 2010 be the year we
finally get to hear their sophomore album “Transit, Transit”?

I sure as shit hope so.

2000 : Radiohead Kid A
2001 : Bjork Vespertine
2002 : Interpol Turn On The Bright Lights
2003 : Massive Attack 100th Window
2004 : Autolux Future Perfect
2005 : Dredg Catch Without Arms
2006 : Mute Math Mute Math
2007 : John Davis Arigato!
2008 : Glasvegas Glasvegas
2009 : Manchester Orchestra Mean Everything To Nothing

Fav Films Of ‘09:

There wasn’t a movie this year that just blew me away.
There’s a few that made me LOL’d, ones that were
big ‘ol WTFs that entertained the hell out of me and
there’s one that jerked a few tears out of this cold
hearted bastard. Hoping for a better year in films for
2010.

Adventureland
Anvil! The Story Of Anvil
Crank: High Voltage
District 9
Drag Me To Hell
500 Days Of Summer
The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard
The Hurt Locker
I Love You, Man

you didn’t care for the new dredg album? well, I know some fans didn’t. I happened to love it anyway. Mute Math I actually liked more than their last record. So we’ll have to agree to disagree with those.

The Doves album was solid, although I think they were better live.

Nice to see Local Natives on your list. I wonder if you’ve caught them in concert yet? Your feeling about them may be different if you do.

Movies? you ever catch UP? or Where the Wild Things Are?..

anyway, nice lists. My 2009 music list and a podcast actually (if you look carefully) are on my blog as well. Cheers!
